The Butterfly Effect brings women together for noncompetitive ocean sport gatherings in coastal cities all over the world. The aim is to instill self-confidence and a love for the ocean in women of all skill levels.
The Butterfly Effect began in Hawaii in 2007 by water women, Tatiana Howard and Juliana Shelef. Since then Tatiana and/or Juliana have flown to organize the event in Brazil, New Zealand, France, Oregon, Germany, Dominican Republic, Israel, Tahiti and Australia for group surf sessions and clinics. The main sports have been windsurfing, stand-up paddle, and kiting but does not limit itself to other sports that have been done such as wake boarding, surf, kayak and yoga. Each gathering also includes safety and stretching sessions, as well as food and gear from local sponsors and fund raising for local charities. Hundreds of women around the world have already participated in these fun and non-competitive gatherings, and the Tahiti Butterfly Effect was the first one for me.
Participating of this Tahiti event was a very unique and special experience. Sharing time in and out of the water with all these woman was very inspiring and can’t wait for next event!
